Full job description
Ensure loads are secure and vehicle temperature is appropriate (based on HACCP requirements), so product arrives in optimal condition
Complete the delivery routes as efficiently as possible
Collect and record payments from some customers as needed
Inspect your delivery vehicle twice on a daily basis (start and end of the day) to confirm roadworthiness and record maintenance issues that need to be addressed
Complete the required paperwork properly (driver logs, inspection sheets, customer invoices, credit forms)
Ensure product is delivered in perfect condition, within the requested timeframe
Load delivery vehicles per invoice details and delivery route when as needed
Keep the van clean (driver cabin as well as cargo area) and stocked as needed
Contact their manager or client services regarding any customer problems while on the road
Occasionally pick up and drop off items (ingredients, equipment, etc.) at the management’s request
Other tasks as assigned from time to time by the Inventory & Transportation Supervisor
Qualifications
- Fluent oral and written English
- Class G driver’s licence, with clean abstract and detailed knowledge of southern Ontario road systems
- Past experience as a commercial driver an asset
- Interpersonal skills, with ability to prioritize within a high-pressure environment
- Mathematical skills; knowledge of Health & Safety, GMP and HACCP requirements
- Ability to problem solve and grasp new concepts quickly
- Class G driver’s licence
